Tips for care

Brushing

Before you wash your The Clipflip you will need to brush it carefully.
Always begin brushing from the bottom of the hairpiece and then slowly work upwards.
Always use a special 'extension brush' to brush the The Clipflip: this avoids hair loss caused by pulling hair from the hairpiece.

Washing

Always use a moisturising shampoo to wash the The Clipflip. Spread the shampoo over the The Clipflip from the top to the bottom of the hairpiece. Do not rub the hair between your hands. Then rinse the The Clipflip with lukewarm water. Always rinse the The Clipflip thoroughly.

Once you have rinsed out the shampoo completely repeat the procedure with a special conditioner for dyed hair. This contains a substance which closes the cuticles and protects the hair from damage by external influences. Obviously, you can also use a mask on occasion as extra care for the hair: allow the mask to penetrate into the hair for a few minutes.
Then rinse the The Clipflip in lukewarm water until the water is completely clear.

Drying

You need to take account of a number of important points when drying the hairpiece. For this reason different drying methods are used for the straight hair, Body wave and Italian Body wave hair versions.

The method for the straight hair version is as follows:
Squeeze the excess water from the The Clipflip and then lay it on a towel. Roll up the The Clipflip in the towel so that most of the water is absorbed by the towel. Next, hang the The Clipflip on the hanger supplied with the hairpiece. Carefully brush the The Clipflip, beginning at the bottom and then gradually working upwards. Leave the The Clipflip to dry naturally Once the The Clipflip is dry you can apply a protective serum and then style your The Clipflip as usual.

The method for the Body wave version is as follows:
Squeeze the excess water from the The Clipflip and then lay it on a towel. Roll up the The Clipflip in the towel so that most of the water is absorbed by the towel. Then carefully brush the The Clipflip, beginning at the bottom and then gradually working upwards. With this version you apply a protective serum after you have brushed the hairpiece. Spread the serum throughout the The Clipflip. The serum closes the cuticles to prevent pilling and tangling. Do not hang the The Clipflip on the hanger supplied with the hairpiece: lay it on a towel. Put your fingers into the hair and squeeze the The Clipflip together so that you, as it were, squeeze the curls into the hair and form a package of 20 by 20 centimetres. Then leave The Clipflip to dry lying on the towel. One hour later you can turn the The Clipflip over and repeat the procedure. This ensures that the hair regains its firm waves. Once the The Clipflip is dry you can style your The Clipflip as usual.

Styling

Once the hair is dry you can apply a protective serum to the The Clipflip and style the hairpiece using the method you use for your own hair. We recommend that you style the The Clipflip on the hanger since this will achieve the best and quickest results.

Do not use hair mousse that could dry out your The Clipflip. You can use a protective serum instead.

When using straighteners or curling irons always keep the hot parts away from the wire as the wire could melt.

Tip: make a note of the length of your wire!

Make sure that you measure and make a note of the length of your wire (since you will then be able to replace the wire if something ever goes wrong).

How can you repair the wire?

  1. Cut the old wire off and take a new length of wire.
  2. Fit one end of the wire through the loop and then tie 3 knots.
  3. Pull the knots tight.
  4. Fit the other end of the wire through the other loop and tie 1 knot.
  5. You can now shorten or lengthen the wire.
  6. Once the wire is adjusted to the correct length tie 3 knots and pull the knots tight.
  7. Cut off the excess length of wire, but always leave a length of 1 centimetre at both ends to prevent the knots from becoming untied.

Your hairdresser will help you the first time you measure your The Clipflip. The standard The Clipflip is supplied with 2 spare wires.
